Since acquiring the Fen-Bay Group in December 2021, Hörmann have been busy creating the largest, nationwide service and maintenance team operating in the industrial warehouse, logistics and retail markets. Located at Welbourn, Lincolnshire and with over 40 years’ experience, the team brings together unprecedented levels of knowledge and skill, all supported by the resources of the large, multi-national Hörmann Group.
Rebranded FBS Hörmann the continued development of the service and maintenance team has enabled Hörmann UK to consolidate and strengthen its position in the market as a one-stop-solution. The acquisition and growth of FBS Hörmann adds a truly national service covering all makes and models of the groups comprehensive range of Industrial doors, loading bay solutions, perimeter protection systems and modular lifts.
Now operating with a team of over one hundred and forty engineers on the road, FBS Hörmann offer a country-wide, 24/7, 365 days-a-year service provision, with an impressive call-out time of just 4 hours. Whilst the engineers are the visible face of the service operation, they are backed by an experienced team behind the scenes, including key account managers, inbound call handlers, estimating, engineering co-ordinators and technical support. FBS Hörmann have built a large, dedicated service department to further add to its position as industry leader in loading bay and perimeter protection systems.
The creation of FBS Hörmann is really starting to pay dividends for the company, with turnover up by 25% so far in 2024. Opportunities to work with some of the largest retailers in the UK have also arisen with the company recently winning a regional contract with a well-known supermarket chain to provide service and maintenance support for their retail premises. The contract covers doors, loading, and lifting equipment, security gates and any civil work required. It is a perfect example of one of the key advantages of working with FBS Hörmann – their ability to provide service and maintenance across a whole range of products, meaning that clients are able to reduce the number of subcontractors being used on site.
Phil Clark, National Commercial Service Manager for FBS Hörmann comments, “It has certainly been a busy time since Hörmann acquired the Fen-Bay Group. However, we have now completed the creation of our service team, with everyone operating successfully from our Welbourn site. We have also used the time to review our overall operation and ensure that we are working efficiently throughout the whole business.
One example of our efficiency review has been the development of a partnership with Hilti to provide standardised tools and equipment for the whole service team. We are now able to ensure our team of engineers have the best tools available for the job, together with the ability to track the location of each individual item, improving efficiency when working on large projects. Tools can also be recharged in between jobs using inverters in the service vans to further improve the way we operate.
Also, as part of our growth strategy we have recently opened a Scottish depot based in Tannochside, Lanarkshire. We want to ensure that we are in the best position to provide local markets with people who understand their specific conditions and requirements and are able to provide the right support.
Our extensive programme of recruitment and training has been completed, and we are now in the position to say with confidence that we are the largest provider of service and maintenance support in the UK market.”
Even though FBS Hörmann have even more ambitious growth plans for the future they remain committed to their basic philosophy, which is to provide a high level of individual service. So, their strategy moving forward is simple, to continue doing what FBS Hörmann are well known for – skilled personnel and quality products, together with excellent customer care.
